Anyone can learn to draw!

And it’s never too late for that.

Learning to draw from the very beginning:
in this course, I will teach you the basics of drawing – ‘from scratch’.

• • How do the different pencils differ from each other and which one can I use for what?

  • How do I warm up not only my muscles before drawing, but also ‘my mind’?

  • How do I switch to a ‘visual mode’ and what helps me to do this?

  • Which ‘scales’ and tricks help me to capture proportions correctly?

  • What types of light and shadow exist and how can I depict them in my drawings?

  • What do I have to consider with regard to perspective and how can I create the ‘illusion of space’?

Presentations and introductions to the theoretical background of the respective topic alternate with practical exercises and there is time for application, practice and exchange / dialogue.

And if you are unable to attend an appointment: Don’t worry! After each topic, the respective presentation will be sent to you by e-mail, also the exercise material, so that you are always provided with what has been worked on and can also use the documents later for self-study.

… And if you would like to continue:

In the second cycle, you will learn both further basic and advanced drawing skills,
and you can experiment with different tools and techniques.

In addition to using pencils (graphite), the group will work with charcoal and ink.
The techniques will be tried out on a variety of different subjects –
from the human figure (portrait drawing) to still life and motives from the plant and animal world.
Among other things, we will repeat techniques such as (cross) hatching (pencils (graphite)),
explore ways of rendering light and shadow using ink and charcoal,
deepen portrait drawing with pencils (graphite) and introduce portrait drawing with charcoal,
as well as practise depicting different surface textures.
